George Mikonos, beloved and cherished uncle, age 96, formerly of Cleveland, OH, died at home in Albuquerque, NM peacefully and contentedly in the arms of his devoted niece, Dana, and great-niece, Nicole, on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
He is survived by his niece, Dana Liolios; great-niece, Nicole Hultquist; and great-nephew, Christopher Hultquist. George was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Skoll and Eve Mikonos Castellana. He entered this world in 1921 in Donora Borough, PA, born to Euripides and Konstatina Mikonos.
George was a strong patriot and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. After his discharge, George was self-employed, always taking care of his family. He eventually went to work for ADT Security, retiring after 28 years. He always had a smile on his face and never had a bad word to speak of anyone. His genuine love and compassion for others emulated George’s love for the Lord. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
A Graveside Service and Trisagion, will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.
His family would like to personally thank all those who helped care for George from Legacy Hospice including Debbie, Heather, and Maria. You were our angels and we couldn't have done it without you. A special thanks to Dr. Christopher Merchant for his loving care. In lieu of fresh flowers, plants may be sent to celebrate George's touch on our lives, because they will live on just as he will in our hearts.
