George McAfee, 91, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 25, 2025, with his devoted family by his side.
George was a man of many passions, with a lifelong love of airplanes, airshows, and military history. A natural tinkerer, he took pride in maintaining his vehicles, working outdoors, and fixing things around the house. But above all, he cherished time spent with his family-his children, grandchildren, and especially his great-granddaughter, Kenzie, who brought him immense joy.
A proud veteran, George served as a tank commander in the U.S. Army before becoming a tank instructor in the Army Reserve. His talent on the baseball field was undeniable-he was named the most valuable pitcher in New Mexico and was even offered a contract to play for the New York Yankees in the early 1950s. A hardworking man with an entrepreneurial spirit, he owned and operated his own business from a young age, building a successful career through dedication and determination.
More than his accomplishments, George will be remembered for the kind of man he was-an honorable, trustworthy, and humble soul who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His kindness and generosity were unmatched, and he had a way of making people feel at ease with his warm smile and genuine spirit. He passed down invaluable life lessons to those around him, and his presence was one that people naturally gravitated toward.
He is survived by his son, George McAfee; daughter, Debbie King; grandsons, Michael and Ryan King, and their spouses, Elise and Tonya King; great-granddaughter, Kenzie King; as well as many other cherished family members and friends.
