George Lance
On Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the age of 89, George Lance, Jr., transitioned to be with the Lord after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and servant of God.
George Lance, Jr. was born on September 4, 1933, to Lillie Armstrong and George Lance in Conway, South Carolina. He grew up in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina with his aunt and uncle Lucian and Lucile Lance. He often shared how his Grandma Nellie took care of him. He attended school in the Georgetown County Public School system.
George was known for his caring heart and loyalty to family, and friends. He was a dedicated employee with a sound work ethic. He was a people person and communicated with the public with integrity.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Armstrong; and father, George Lance; stepmother, Helen Lance; mother-in-law, Beulah Jenkins; and his brothers, Freeman Green; Jimmy Hunt; Eugene Ford; Junior Hunt; Marion Hunt; and
Johnny Lance; his sisters, Mary Lance Bell, and Bertha Mae Lance Burdett (Carl); his daughter, Dianna Young, and son-in law, Joseph Young; two sisters-in law, Rosa Lee Smith (Junior) and Sharon Jenkins; four brothers-in-law, Ronald Smith, Lester Cousey, Michael Thornton, and Thomas Sarvis, and several grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years and partner of 52 years, Mamie Lance, whom he called Alice; He is also survived by his children, Gwendolyn Walls (Freddie), Barbara Harvey, Garrett Jenkins, Geraldine Jenkins, Michelle Lance Goodwin (Hakim), Taleema Cardona (Manuel), DaQuan Lance (Sheneka), Sean Lance, Rasheem George Lance, and Jennifer Lance.
He is also survived by three daughters from a previous marriage to Bernice Lance: Verla Myers (Michael), Ester M. Harrell, and Teretha Futch (Glenn); and his brother, Joe Nathan Lance; sisters, Martha Lance Cousey, Elizabeth Thornton, Laura Tucker (Franklin), Mary Sarvis, Ella Lance (George), and Mildred Lance; and brothers-in law, Abraham Jenkins (Hannah), Reverend Henry Jenkins, Minister George Jenkins (Catherine), Paul Jenkins; and one sister-in-law, Linda Diop (Sheikh).
George also leaves to cherish his memories a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, friends, and colleagues. He will be dearly missed as his heart touched so many lives.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., FRENCH - Westside with Burial to follow at 12:30 p.m., at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho.
