George F. Harris, 83 years of age, passed on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at his home in Olympia, WA. George was surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren until he took his last breath. He knew he was loved and will be missed greatly.
George was born Monday, December 7, 1936, in Okemah, OK. He was the only child to George and Jessie Jean Harris. Their family settled in Albuquerque, NM, where George was raised. George was an exceptional athlete and excelled at basketball and baseball. He graduated from Albuquerque High School and continued to play ball on city league teams as an adult. George followed in his Father’s footsteps to join the Local 412 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in Albuquerque and was a proud member for 50+ years. He represented the New Mexico Local 412 at the Purdue University Apprenticeship Contest to be the best in USA Plumber/Pipefitter Unions. George was meticulous with his hands and an intelligent businessman who went above and beyond to provide for his family.
George and his wife, BJ, married on Thursday, September 22, 1988. They made a wonderful life together in Chama, NM, through 2013, then moved to Olympia, WA, where they currently reside. George and BJ loved to dance to country and western music, travel and spend time with family. George also loved classic car shows and restored his own 1953 Ford truck.
George was quiet with a great sense of humor. He was gentle, kind and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones who know he is now at peace with his creator and Lord, Jesus Christ.
