George Anthony Drebing

The angels took our beloved husband, father, and grandfather peacefully to heaven on March 25, 2022, after a long and valiant fight with Parkinson’s. George Drebing was born to George Drebing, Sr. and Marjorie Drebing on June 12, 1928, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He leaves behind mourning his wonderful soul his loving wife of 63 years, Carmen; his son, Mark and daughter-in-law, Stephanie; two granddaughters, Taylor Noya (Nestor) and Danielle Drebing (Tony); four grandsons, Tyler, Connor (Mika), Graham, and Nolan Drebing; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends. George was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Stagnone; and son, John Drebing; and his parents, George, and Marjorie Drebing.

When school days were over at Albuquerque High School, George joined the Army as a young man during the Korean War and served from 1950 to 1952. On his return from military duties as a Master Sergeant, he was employed at Galles Chevrolet and American Toyota for many years. After retirement, he and his wife traveled throughout the US and to many countries in Europe. Even though he was a homebody at heart, he always enjoyed his travels. He was a long-time supporter of UNM athletics, especially men’s basketball, and an ardent fan of the Dallas Cowboys. George was a quiet, kind, and humble man who loved life and never had a harsh word against anyone.

He was a wonderful husband and father who adored his grandchildren and they loved him and his calm demeanor. Many enjoyable times were spent with them in the outdoors, hiking, fishing, boating, and sledding. Special and memorable days were frequent pastimes with family at the mountain cabin near Chama. He lived life to the fullest and he will never be forgotten for his love and kindness. His family will forever cherish the wonderful memories of him.

Rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Lomas, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 4, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2532 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, NM; Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE. Pallbearers: Taylor Noya, Connor Drebing, Graham Drebing, and Nolan Drebing.
