George Albert "Peter" Bratcher, 77, our beloved, was called to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. He entered this world on Monday, September 4, 1944 in Durham, NC, born to George and Anna Bratcher. George is preceded in death by two sisters, Delilah Ann Blake and Loretta Mae Bratcher; and nephew, Ronnie Bratcher.
George graduated from Hillside High School in June of 1963. He attended the College of Advanced Traffic and Transportation in Chicago, IL, receiving an associate degree in 1973. He enjoyed model railroading, music, and collected stamps at one time. In 1988, George relocated to Santa Fe, NM, and found his home in Albuquerque, NM.
George honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant E-4.
George was a faithful member of the Church of God New Mexico, and also wrote articles for the church newsletter. History was his passion.
He leaves to cherish in his memory two brothers, Lindsey Bratcher, and Sylvester W. Bratcher, both of Durham, NC; a loving niece, Jacqueline Bratcher Williams of Durham, NC; a great nephew, De Mario Lamont Bratcher of Durham, NC; a special aunt, Mary Agnes Harris of Durham, NC; three special cousins, Levonia Clayton, Sheila Harris, and Ronald Bratcher, all of Durham, NC; pastor and special friends, John Savers, Ed Costanza, Joyce Bingham, and Joel Maldonado; as well as a host of cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, 7/19/2022, 10 a.m. at FRENCH-Lomas, followed by a Funeral Service. Burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
