Geoffrey Gordon

November 23, 1939 — February 13, 2023

Geoffrey Gordon passed peacefully at home on Monday, February 13, 2023. A most amazing man. A man of great intelligence and great heart. To Geof the world was a playground and from a very young age he made it his own. His antics as a kid growing up in Arizona and Massachusetts are too numerous to list. He enrolled in college at the age of 16; and, though he and his dorm room conspirators pulled off some wild capers, Geof remained on the right side of the Dean's list. Geof graduated from Claremont McKenna College and achieved his Master's Degree from U.C. Berkley.

He was a captain in the Air Force for 6 years and served as an intelligence officer in Viet Nam. Geof achieved great success in his professional life retiring as a Director of Atlas Pacific Engineering Company, having previously served as President and CEO. He was also actively involved with PEDCO and served as a board member for the Pueblo Community College Foundation. Geof loved music, especially folk, country and bluegrass. As a young boy he listened to the Grand Ole Opry on a homemade radio in his bedroom. He taught himself to play the banjo and the guitar and performed with a group called the Black Hills Folk Forum. A voracious reader, especially of spy and intrigue novels, books covered several shelves. Geof's love of trains came early in his life and manifested into a long relationship with the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad where he served as a member of the operations board, as well as on the board of the Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec. He volunteered with the Friends for over 25 years, either rebuilding rail cars or as a docent. There are many who will remember Geof with fondness for he made many friends worldwide.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 32 years, Nancy and his son, Ian, of Aptos, California and his daughter, Heather, of Albuquerque and 4 grandchildren. He is survived by David Todd and family of Newport Beach and Seattle. He is also survived by his cat, Lady Grey.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside. Contributions may be made in Geof's memory to the Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec or to the charity of your choice.
