Gennie Hulette, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
She was born in Monticello, Arkansas, August 8, 1926, to Ray Yount and Willie Mae Farmer. She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Jack Hulette; her children, Steven and wife, Robbin, Timothy and wife, Linda, Linda and husband, Monte Apodaca, David and wife, Theresa; her grandchildren, Patrick and wife, Beth, Jeannette and husband, Kevin Vincent, Shawn and partner, Chris Reston, Adam, Jason and wife, Shelly Shideler, Jennifer, Christopher and wife, Steffani Gatley, Patricia, Colleen; and great-grandchildren, Joe and wife, Lori Vincent, Anika and Deandra Shideler, Candice Baca and Siona Gatley; her nieces, Cindy McBrayer, Sheron and husband, Morgan Duckworth, Carla Lewis and Charmaine Young; and cousin, Jean Owen.
Gennie and Jack married in 1946 and moved to New Mexico. She started work for Los Alamos National Labs and then worked for Sandia National Labs after which she took time to care for her four children. After her children were grown, Gennie went to work for State Farm Insurance where she worked for 20 years and earned her Associates degree.
Gennie loved oil painting and entered the State Fair yearly, winning several ribbons. She was a very avid reader. Since 1964, Gennie volunteered regularly at her church, St. John’s United Methodist, working in the office and cutting pies at monthly Sunday dinners and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Gennie loved cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. She treasured her family and was a loving and generous angel.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
