Genevieve “Jean” L. Demkovich, 93, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother ,aunt and friend, went to Heaven on Monday, June 5,2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Mary Janicek; her husband, Joseph “Puggy” Demkovich; her brothers, sisters, relatives and dear friends. Her sister-in-law Annabelle Janicek survives her.
She is survived by her children, Joanie See and her husband, Clay; Joe Demkovich and his wife, Laurie Vogel; Fr. Michael Demkovich, OP; and MaryKay Gutierrez and her husband, Eloy. She treasured her grandchildren, Genevieve Davis and husband Zack; Jonathan See and wife, Kara; Cecily Mendenhall and husband, Kyle; Avalon Gutierrez and her great-grandson, Tucker Davis. She was loved and will be missed by her extended family, nieces and nephews and friends.
Jean was born in Chicago, attended Morton High School and night classes at Northwestern.
Jean and Joe, the love of her life, were married for 62 wonderful years before his death in 2009. They were transferred with IBM from Chicago to Indiana, Oklahoma, and Albuquerque. Each move was an adventure. Jean enjoyed visiting friends and family around the country. She welcomed company into her home and was happy and proud to show off Albuquerque and New Mexico. Jean and Joe had great fun at Lobo football and basketball games and all the activities that New Mexico had to offer.
She was a kind and thoughtful mother, a devoted wife and a true friend to many. She always had a song in her heart and happiness to share. Jean enjoyed playing bridge, neighborhood lunches, golfing and traveling both abroad and in the US. She was a long time member of Four Hills CC.
Jean was a devoted Roman Catholic, attending Aquinas Newman Center and Our Lady of Annunciation and supporting DEI.
A Rosary will be recited on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 7:00 at FRENCH-Lomas, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. A Mass of the Resurrection will be Celebrated Tuesday, June 13, 2017, 10:30 at Our Lady of the Annunciation, 2621 Vermont St NE, Albuquerque. A Private Interment will take place at a later date .
