Gene Lies, 68, beloved husband and father, passed peacefully in his own home surrounded by family on March 25, 2017 after a six year battle with prostate cancer.
He was born to Henry and Sue Lies on March 22, 1949, in Albuquerque, NM. He married the love of his life, Pamela Lies, and together they had one son, Joshua Lies, two daughters, Rachel Campos and Rebecca Bercovitch, and through them he is survived by his seven grandchildren.
Gene retired from APS where he was employed as a computer programmer analyst. Before becoming ill from his cancer treatments he was a well-known member in the Albuquerque running community, volunteered as a running coach in Albuquerque Fit in 2005 and 2006, and completed nine marathons. He was very social and seemed to run into old friends everywhere he went. As a very active and loving father, he coached his son's Little League baseball team for three years and served as a scout leader in the Boy Scouts of America. He was greatly loved by his family and we will never stop missing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at O'Niell's Pub, 3301 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
