TSgt Gene G. Currier, (USAF) Ret., age 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970 died November 15, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna May; children, Dan Currier, Donnie Currier and wife, Anne, Teresa Daniel and husband, Larry, Janet Saint, Leonard Currier, and Gary Currier and wife, Debra Montano; grandchildren, Doug, John and wife, Jennifer, Gene E. and wife, Amanda, Lisa, Andy and wife, Robyn, Danielle, Christian, Gabe, and Mariah and husband, Anthony; great-grandchildren, Evan, Dustin, Zach, Jaiden, Becky, Justin, and Garrett; twin brother, Jack H. Currier and wife, Doddie; and numerous other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Balsick and Junia Butler; two nephews, Greg and Jim Balsick; and daughter-in-law, Terry Currier. He was born in 1933 in Calhan, CO and married Anna May Thompson in May 1956. He proudly served in the United States Air Force with three unaccompanied tours and one tour in Italy where his family joined him. He retired in 1972. After his retirement, Gene worked for Sears, Toyota, and Wheel-Allign-It II. He was a volunteer for the Rio Rancho Soap Box Derby for 10 years and also helped with maintenance at Messiah Lutheran Church. Gene never met a stranger and always had a kind word for others, including teasing others to make them smile. He was a devoted husband, and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 11515 Lomas Blvd. NE, 87112. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery with honors Friday, November 20, 2015, 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gene's name to Messiah Lutheran Church.
