Gayle Schaefer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gayle Elizabeth Schaefer, born on July 7, 1954 in Riverton Wyoming, who passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023 in Albuquerque New Mexico after a difficult battle with Cancer.

Gayle was the beloved daughter of the late Warner and Harriett Schaefer, and the loving sister of Bob, Judy, Bill, and Dennis Schaefer. She was a devoted mother to Christopher Sage, Jenaya Sage-Chavez, Nathan Shore, son-in-law Laurence Chavez, and daughter-in-law Cristina Shore and a loving partner to John Herrera. She was a proud grandmother to Abigail Shore, Isabella Chavez, Ashley Shore, Sera Chavez, Aiden Chavez, Greyson Shore, Lydia Shore, Hayden Shore, and honorary grandchildren Christian Chavez, Angelica Streetman, Kaylee Chavez, Isaiah Chavez, Talaya Urban, Penelope Venegas, and Robby Venegas. Her best friend of 38 years Brenda Sandoval was a devoted caregiver and gave her so much comfort in her final days.

Gayle was a Registered Nurse and was passionate about helping others. She was an avid reader and traveler, and loved nothing more than sitting on her back porch enjoying her hummingbirds, wind chimes, and garden.

Gayle was a loving grandmother and mother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be arranged at a later date.
