Anderson,Geneva Gayle West
Gayle was born in Snyder, TX, to Leonard and Geneva West. The family moved to Jerome, AZ, where her sister Vicki was born, and on to Albuquerque, NM, where Gayle attended Highland High School. After graduating in 1953, she enrolled in the University of New Mexico and joined Chi Omega sorority. After graduating from UNM with a degree in education, Gayle married Kenneth Anderson, started her career as an elementary school teacher, and started a family, giving birth to twins, Kevin and Keri and, fifteen months later to Michelle. Raising three children, while teaching full time, presented challenges which Gayle handled with elegance and grace.
After retiring from APS, Gayle opened a children's book store called "Fantasy Unlimited", where she continued displaying her love of educating children. When the bookstore closed, Gayle retired to Cottonwood, AZ, where she lived until health issues led to Gayle taking up
residence at Keystone Place in Denver, CO, near her daughter, Michelle Barton.
Gayle West Anderson passed away on December 28, 2015, in the company of her daughter,
Michelle and her granddaughter, Lena Barton.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Geneva West; her sister, Vicki Lynn
Torr; her son, Kevin Layne Anderson; and her daughter, Keri Lynn Anderson.
