Gary D. Williams, age 74, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 from complications due to his Parkinson's disease. He was a well-known New Mexico banker and retired in 2013 after 40 years with Wells Fargo Bank.
Gary was known in the state of New Mexico as a volunteer extraordinaire in many fields. As one of the original sponsors of the 1973 New Mexico State Search and Rescue plan, Gary was an active participant in the program since its inception, serving as both an Incident Commander and Area Commander. In addition, he was also a retired Deputy Chief of Volunteers for Bernalillo County Fire and Rescue, serving as a volunteer fireman for over 25 years. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Program, the founder of the Bernalillo County Fire Explorer Post and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for outstanding volunteerism. He was part of the New Mexico Civil Air Patrol, an active member of the Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Norte and a New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) Alumni Hall of Fame recipient.
He is survived by his wife, Kathie; his son, Jason and wife, Courtney; granddaughter, Levvi; brother, Dennis Williams and wife, Mary; sisters, Debbie Findley and husband, Travis, and Nancy Jordan and husband, Jim; and cherished aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard and Ruth Williams.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH- Wyoming with a Celebration of Life at the family home following the service.
