Chief Petty Officer Gary Wallace Tweeten, US Navy, Ret'd, age 75, died July 11, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Caridad; his daughter, Dorina Sturdivant; grandson, Saivon Sturdivant; brothers, Carmen Tweeten and wife, Henrietta, Dennis Tweeten and wife, Jewel, James Tweeten and wife, Estrella; his sister, Lois Kraft and husband, John; and many other family and friends including Douglas Lott and wife, Olga. Gary was a graduate of Grand Forks, ND Central High School and served in the North Dakota National Guard. He then joined the United States Navy where he retired after 22 years. After retirement he joined the Military Sealift Command and served for 7 more years. He moved to Albuquerque in 1997 from Grand Forks. Gary was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of the American Legion as well. He attended Washed by the Word Church in Albuquerque. Friends may visit Sunday, July 17, 2016, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Services will be Monday, July 18, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Washed by the Word Church, 4228 Carlisle NE with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Washed by the Word Church.
