Gary Lee Peterson, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, December 22, 2023.
Gary is survived by his former wife, Shirley Lamar Peterson and their children, Todd Peterson of Fort Worth, Texas; Krista Peterson of Albuquerque and Tiffani Hilliard and husband Pepper of Edgewood, NM. He was also very proud of his three grandsons Jesse Carmichael, SPC Andrew Carmichael (United States Army) and Garrett Peterson as well as his three great grandchildren Peyton, Paislee and Perseus. He is predeceased by his parents Karl and Mildred Peterson.
Gary was born on July 20, 1937 in lola, Kansas where his parents lived on a farm. Gary became ill as a young child and doctors recommended the family move to a dry climate so the Petersons relocated to Albuquerque. Gary graduated from Valley High School in 1956 and continued his education by attending UNM for two years as a prerequisite for attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, lowa. He was passionate in helping others achieve better health, and remained dedicated to his Chiropractic practice for 55 years. In 1985, Gary earned the honor of Chiropractor of the Year in the State of New Mexico.
He married Shirley Lamar Peterson on December 3, 1959 and they adopted their three children. Gary was a faithful and dedicated father who raised his children to love the Lord and prayed fervently for each of them.
He was a charter member of Sandia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a 10* grade boys Sunday School teacher. Later, he become an active member of Berean Baptist Church where he attended faithfully with his loving companion Glenna Groves and her family.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Carole Proctor who was an amazing friend and caregiver. The care and compassion you showed to our loved one made such a difference in his life by always being there for him.
A Visitation followed by a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, 1:00 p.m.m at FRENCH- Lomas. He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
