Gary was born May 21, 1940 in Marshalltown, Iowa to H. Newell and B. Virginia Mann. He dedicated himself in baptism on July 22, 1953. In early 1964, his childhood friend, Donetta, became his beloved wife, and they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to build their life and family. Gary contributed to the design and growth of his new Southwestern home state as a civil engineer, draftsman and surveyor most recently with Robert Witter and Associates before retiring. He and his wife strongly believed in living lives of service, always offering their time and talents to the benefit of others and often did so together, even providing medical and technical support to search and rescue efforts across New Mexico for many years. His varied interests included a life-long love of music (especially the guitar), Bible ministry, aviation, history, geography, trains, ham radio, reading, puzzles, orienteering, astronomy, mechanical engineering, calligraphy and nature. His quick wit, quiet strength, genuine smile and laughter, intelligence and gentle, loving nature touched all who knew him. Gary's greatest legacies will always be his family, faith, love of life and endless sense of humor. He passed away in the early morning hours of November 29, 2014, surrounded and supported by his loving family. Gary will be best remembered by his best friend and wife of nearly 51 years, Donetta ("Doni") and their four children, Deborah (and her husband), Cheryl, David and Rebecca, their beloved grand-daughter Kielly, his brother James and sister-in-law Mercedes, his sister Susan and brother-in-law Steve, future son-in-law Cody, several nieces and a nephew, grand-nieces and nephews as well as many close friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 13th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses (6509 Signal Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113) for all who wish to attend. In lieu of flowers, please share your favorite memory of Gary..
