We've known for several months that Gary was in bad health and his doctors didn't give much hope. He took a fall on Sunday which resulted in a downward spiral. A man who loved life, his family, friends and country, Gary S. Gell, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sherry; sons, Gary Jr. and wife Lynne and Steve and wife Barbara; and grandsons, Henry, Jeremiah and Justin. Born in Cleveland, OH on November 22, 1938, Gary served and retired after 23 years of Honorable Service to the US Air Force. Gary was a proud Flight Engineer on C-130's during the Vietnam conflict and proud to serve his country. During his military career Gary, Sherry and their two sons lived and served in the U.S., England and the Philippines.
Upon his retirement from the USAF, Gary and the family relocated to Florida where he had grown up as a youth along with his brother, Ricky Gell and wife Georgette of Vero Beach, FL. Gary worked for Boeing Aerospace at Cape Canaveral in Quality Control Assurance for Shuttle preparation launches.
Even during his final hours he was upbeat, jovial and declared that things would get better although he knew and had accepted his ultimate fate. Gary will be missed yet remembered by his friends and family and the thousands of people he knew during his life. Gary was a great person, a great friend, husband, father, grandfather and a great American. Bless you, Gary, the suffering is over and the good Lord has embraced you for your deeds in life. Peace be with you.
