DAWSON, GARY L. Gary L. Dawson has taken his final hike to begin his eternal life. Gary was born in Wichita, Kansas on August 2, 1938 and died February 1, 2015 after a valiant effort to recover from a head injury sustained in March of 2014. Gary moved to Pueblo, CO, with his family where he graduated from High School and technical school. Later he moved to Moab, UT, and then to Albuquerque, NM, where he retired after spending nearly his entire career with AT&T. Gary was an avid camper and hiker and belonged to several hiking clubs including Hikers and Friends. He hiked the Grand Canyon several times and Machu Picchu in Peru, as well as practically every trail in New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. He was an active member of Rio Rancho Community Church. He belonged to a men's Bible study group and participated in the building of the Care Net facility. Gary is survived by several cousins, second cousins and a wide circle of friends of all ages. He will be greatly missed. A service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015, 10:30 a.m., at FRENCH - Westside. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens.
