Gary Burriss, 81, beloved Spouse, Father, Grandfather, Father-in-law, and Brother, was called to his eternal resting place on September 13, 2024. He entered this world on October 20, 1942. He was born in Buffalo, NY. His parents were Dean and Ruth Burriss. He is survived by the love of his life, his spouse Charlene Burriss, daughter Erin Shifflett, son James Burriss (Sabrina); son Frederick Burriss (Kathleena) five cherished grandchildren; Alexander Martinez, Logan Wilt, Vaughn Burriss, Walker Burriss, and one granddaughter; Vienna Burriss. Gary has two sisters Pamela Ignac (Ronald Ignac) and Debra Barron.
Gary served in the Navy from 1962-1970. He also was a Foreign Service Officer in the Federal Government for 25 years. Gary had many attributes, too numerous to convey, but the greatest attribute was the love of family, he was a great listener and openly gave his best advice. Additionally, Gary was an avid reader, always working on crossword puzzles and loved dancing, especially ballroom dancing.
In conclusion, Gary enjoyed going to Bear Canyon Senior center two or three times a week to play Hearts, Rummikub and Mexican Train.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at FRENCH-Wyoming followed by interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
