Frederico Mauricio Silva, 68, loving son, husband, father, and grandfather passed away on October 23, 2015. Fred was born in Gallup, NM on May 21, 1947 to Agapito and Socorro (Vigil) Silva.
Fred graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1965 and received an Associate's Degree from UNM in General Studies.
Fred married Nora (Martinez) on June 5, 1976 in Clayton, NM. He is survived by his wife, Nora of Los Lunas; daughter, Reina and granddaughter, Sophia; son, Frederick Thomas; daughter, Theresa and husband, Jason Utash, and grandchildren, Jayden, Jude, Jula, Jason II, and Jack. He is also survived by his mother, Socorro Silva; brothers and sisters, Michael and wife, Mary, Patricia and husband, Larry, Agapito Jr. and Mary, Maurice and Rosemary, Jerome and wife, Carla, and Erlinda; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his dad, Agapito Encinias Silva in June 2007.
Fred was an avid collector of coins and enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets. He especially enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and family and would make friends anywhere he went. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Fred proudly served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and later worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 24 years.
Services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church, 244 Luna Avenue, Los Lunas, NM with visitation at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 with Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing starting at 9:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM.
