Frederick Samuel Thurmond

Frederick Samuel Thurmond, “Fred”, of Albuquerque, NM passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the age of 86. Fred fought a brave battle against stroke, COPD and dementia. He is at peace with God now.

Fred was born in Ames Iowa to Harry L. Thurmond and Erma L. (Mann) Thurmond. He was the youngest of four children.

Fred proudly served his country, in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1955. Upon returning home Fred worked in Albuquerque for many years.

Three nephews – Howard T., Ben T., Fritz T., and one niece Kay Rivers; and their family members survive him. The family would like to extend to everyone who knew and cared about Fred our sincere thanks, especially the members of the American Legion Post 100.

He was a gentle, kind and generous man and will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, 12:30 p.m., at FRENCH - University. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM.
