Frederick Wendell Johnson, age 67, passed away September 15, 2014 surrounded by his wife, Shirley and two children, Jeff and Melanie. Fred was a native New Mexican. He graduated from Albuquerque High School and UNM. While at UNM, he met his beloved Shirley. As he put it, "I saw her walking down the street and knew she was the one for me." They were married for 45 years, ended only by his unexpected death. Fred was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, and rarely missed playing along to Jeopardy. In his last week, he did what he enjoyed most, camping in the New Mexico mountains. He spent his life chasing rainbows (rainbow trout that is). May he always chase rainbows. Survivors include his wife; son, Jeff (April) of Las Cruces, NM; daughter, Melanie (Arun) of Dallas, TX; and three grandchildren, Avery, Sophia (Sparkle) and Shekhar. Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Karen Strickler; niece, Caitlyn; uncle, Wentworth Brown; and cousin, Doug Carter (Betty Jo), all of Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be arranged in the near future. FRENCH - Wyoming 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
