Fred Bolwahnn

Fred L. Bolwahnn, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, December 5, 2013. He is survived by his children, Patrick M. Bolwahnn and wife, Mary of Amarillo, TX., Paul Hill and wife, Lina of Maui, HI, Dolores Moreno and husband, Danny of Dalhart, TX, Mary Jeanne Wesling and husband, John of Napa, CA, Sarah Cadwell and husband, Mike of Draper, UT, Andrea Price and husband, Scott of Sandy, UT, Lisa Norton and husband, Charles of Cloudcroft, NM, Susan Baxter and husband, Ed of Albuquerque and Joanna Oliver and husband, Doug of Albuquerque; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis "Bud" Bolwahnn and wife, Joan and Richard Bolwahnn; and other relatives and friends. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; a son Paul Bolwahnn; parents, Louis and Susan Agnes Bolwahnn; and a sister, Barbara. He was born in 1932 in Chicago and after graduation entered the United States Navy in 1951 where he proudly served. He was very proud of his two sons and two grandsons who also served in the Armed Services. Fred moved to Colorado in 1955 where he received his bachelor's degree from Colorado State University, then Colorado A & M. He went to work for the Department of Interior where he worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife for 30+ years. He was a resident of Las Vegas, NM and then of Albuquerque. He loved the outdoors, was quite a gardener and could make anything grow. Fred loved baseball and in football the Redskins, especially enjoyed routing for anybody playing against the Dallas Cowboys. He was an avid cribbage player. Fred was a member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church. He was a mentor and friend to many. Fred was a loving father, grandfather, and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo NE with Pastor Lee officiating. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Thursday December 12, 2013, 11:15 a.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association New Mexico; 9500 Montgomery Boulevard NE, Suite 121, Albuquerque, NM 87111 in Fred's name.
