Frank Robert Ortega

Frank Robert Ortega, age 78, a resident of Winnemucca, NV from 1988-2017, and Albuquerque from 2017-2020, went to meet our Lord in Heaven on Monday, April 20, 2020.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine Ortega of Winnemucca, and Albuquerque; children, Frank Ortega Jr. and his wife, Terry, of Colorado Springs CO, Debbie Armijo and husband, Donald, of Albuquerque, NM, Louie Ortega Sr. and wife, Jennifer, of Winnemucca, NV, and Louie Ortega Jr. and wife, Carrie, of Edwards, CA; grandchildren, Mike Armijo of Albuquerque, NM, Larry Ortega and wife, Amy, of Mesa, AZ, Joseph Ortega and fiancé, Amanda, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dezaray Ortega of Winnemucca, NV; sister, Del Trujillo of Denver CO; great-grandchildren and friends.

Frank had many professions, most notably the town manager of Del Norte, CO, a policeman for the city of Monte Vista, CO, and a heavy equipment operator for numerous gold mines in northern Nevada where he was known as the best blade operator there ever was. He knew no strangers and loved to talk to everyone he met, and he was loved by many. He was the best husband, mentor, friend, and father that anyone could have had to so very many people. He offered his help to anyone in need and saw the best in anyone. While he is not with us anymore in person, his memory and spirit will always be with those who were lucky to know him.

Rosary, Mass, and celebration of Frank’s life will be announced at a later date when family and friends can be together again.
