Frank Luis Montoya, beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, passed away on November 5, 2012. Mr. Montoya was born in Costilla, NM on November 6, 1929. He is survived by his wife, Loyola; and his five sons, Frank, Jr. and his wife, Christina Sakomoto of Honolulu, HI; LeRoy, his daughter, Victoria and his partner, Debbie Villa Gomez of Albuquerque; Matthew, his wife, Colene and their three sons, Alex, Nick and Josh of Albuquerque; Mark, his wife, Carol and their son, Mark and daughter, Katrina of Albuquerque; and Jon of Albuquerque. Mr. Montoya taught in Del Norte, Colorado, at the University of Iowa, and at the University of New Mexico. The majority of his career, 28 years, was as a teacher and administrator for Albuquerque Public Schools. Mr. Montoya was a Korean War Veteran, with the Headquarters Battery, 1st Forward Observation Battalion, Artillery, "The Nathan Hale Battalion" and received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal. He was awarded Two Bronze Stars and the Republic of South Korea Presidential Unit Citation for meritorious service. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at French - University, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM with visitation one hour prior from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM. Interment with Military Honors, will take place on Monday, November 19, 2012, 3:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Frank's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
