Esquibel, Frank "Tinky"
Frank “Tinky” Esquibel, 70, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2017 in his home. A loving and compassionate father of three daughters, he is survived by Jennifer Personius and her husband John; Grace Esquibel and her husband Brian Ranade; Frances Esquibel-Gelfenbeyn and her husband Kirill Gelfenbeyn. Frank had two grandchildren Andy Personius and Forest Ranade with another one on the way from Grace. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvestre and Ann Esquibel as well as his brothers Bobby and Ronnie Esquibel. Frank was a good son to his parents, an incredible father, and his family meant the world to him.
Frank grew up in the South Valley and was a 1964 Rio Grande High School graduate. After graduation, Frank served six years in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve when he became interested in aviation. Upon completing his military service, Frank became an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration working in Panama, Houston and Albuquerque where he was well respected among his peers. Despite a long layoff after the 1981 Air Traffic Controllers strike, Frank was rehired as an air traffic controller in 1996 and continued to excel professionally until his retirement from the FAA in 2007. Never one to sit idle, Frank also owned a local moving business and was an FAA instructor after retirement.
Frank was devoted to his family. He loved cooking his red chile and has a smile that could light up a room. He was also a man of strong Christian faith. He read and reflected on bible readings every morning and enjoyed going to Sunday services at Sagebrush Church. Frank lived his life adhering to strong Christian principles and he passed away with dignity and no regrets. Despite many challenges over his life, Frank lived his life to the fullest and was very good to those he loved.
Frank was fortunate to find a soulmate and partner in Mary Ballinger who he loved dearly. Mary cared for him with great compassion until his passing. The family forever appreciates her sacrifices over these last few months. He will be missed but forever in our hearts. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Sagebrush Church at 6440 Coors Blvd. Albuquerque, NM 87120. Floral deliveries will be accepted at this location after 9 am on Friday November 3, 2017. Please visit our online guestbook for Frank at www.FrenchFunerals.com.
