Frank G. Chavez, a deeply loved father, grandfather, and community pillar, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, in Bernalillo, New Mexico, at the age of 87. Born on November 11, 1937, in Casa Salazar, New Mexico, Frank's life was defined by unwavering faith, devotion to his family, and a steadfast commitment to his community.
In 1967, alongside his wife, Georgina, Frank opened Bernalillo Feed and Conoco. What began as a small Purina dealership with just a few sacks of feed and a baby by the wood-burning stove grew into a thriving local business. Through hard work, vision, and a heart full of generosity, Frank built his dream and became a cornerstone of New Mexico life.
A strong Catholic devoted husband, and father Frank embodied values of humility, kindness, and resilience. He believed "everything is fixable" and lived by that principle, always keeping his promises and giving his all to those around him. Frank was known for his big heart, gentle humor, and unwavering integrity.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Georgina, in 2014. He is survived by his loving brother, Daniel Garcia; his loving son, Mark Chavez; his loving daughters, Tommie Hernandez her husband, Pete, and Frances Garcia her husband, Johnny; and his loving grandchildren, Isaac Chavez, JD Garcia, and Alexis "Sugar" Garcia.
Frank is also survived by countless family, friends and community members who were blessed to know him. His family and community will deeply miss him, especially during this holiday season, as they reflect on their loss with the words of Frank's favorite singer, Elvis Presley: "I'll have a blue Christmas without you."
Frank's legacy will never fade, and his love will live on in every life he touched. As we gather to celebrate his remarkable life, we are comforted by the thought that he is reunited with Georgina, watching over us with the same love and care he always gave. Padre Querido, Grandpa, and Papa Bambo we will carry your love in our hearts forever. Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar, we'll keep your light shining in our lives.
