Frances Myers

January 19, 1930 — December 12, 2024

Frances (Fran) Adelia Myers, age 94, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024. Fran was born January 19, 1930, in Houston, TX to Louis Lee and Doris Delia Adam. Her father was career US Army, and the family eventually was assigned to the Panama Canal Zone. Fran met her future husband, James (Jimmy) Frederick Myers who was also assigned to the same base. After Fran graduated high school, they married, and their military lives began. Their first child was born in Panama. Jimmy went to Officers Candidate School at Ft. Riley, KS. Their second child was born after Jimmy's graduation. Their next assignment was Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. While living in Maryland, their third daughter was born. Jimmy was sent to Korea (first time). He had the opportunity to transfer to Yokohama, Japan, to complete his second overseas assignment. The Army allowed Jimmy to return home to assist Fran and the three girls (4, 3, and 2 years old) to Japan where they lived for 18 months. Jimmy's next assignment was at the Ordinance Depot in Channelview, TX. After three years, their son was born.

Jimmy's next assignment was Vicenza, Italy (Ft. Ederle) for three years. Then it was off to Ft. Bragg, NC, after which Jimmy was sent to Korea, a second time. Upon his return, he was assigned to Kirtland AFB. The family decided to retire in Albuquerque. Fran worked for the US government and retired from her last job with the Air Force Research Lab. While working at the Lab, she worked part-time and attended the University of New Mexico part-time, where she earned her BUS degree.

After graduation and retirement, Fran started her wedding planning business, which she had for 23 years. She was appointed State Coordinator for New Mexico by the Association of Bridal Consultants, a member of Toastmasters International, for 20+ years. Fran was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was proud of her perfect attendance since March 1972. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She volunteered at the NM Veterans Memorial, Military Officers Area, Carenet, and Albuquerque Reads Program. She was a long-time member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church, volunteering with Vacation Bible School over the years.

The most important focus of her life was her family. She and Jimmy had four children, Barbara Mock (Jimmy), Carol Billingham, Linda Williams (Bob), and James Myers, Jr. (Karen).

Frances is survived by her above listed children, 8 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Don Adam (Donna) and family of Bryan, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and her brother, Jack Adam.
