Frances "Joan" McGinnis

Frances "Joan" McGinnis, 76, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, April 21, 2017. Born in Chicago, IL in October 1940, she moved with her family to New Mexico when she was ten years old, and lived most of her life in Albuquerque's North Valley.
She is survived by her three sisters, Janice Pollard, Janine Carter and husband, Tommy, and Judy Chiado; sons, Daniel McGinnis and wife, Sandra and Mitchell "Chip" McGinnis and wife, Sherrie; grandsons, Darren and wife, Amber, Ryan McGinnis and wife, Luisa, Filiberto Pacheco and wife, Brianna, and Samuel McGinnis; granddaughter, Jolie McGinnis; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McGinnis and brother, John Stueber.
Joan was a fearless woman who lived her life passionately, never stepping down from a challenge. She taught herself to paint with watercolor at the age of 60. She loved horses and dancing, and always grew a beautiful garden. Joan also enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family.
Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be spread in a beautiful location where she had many special memories. Friends and family are invited to commemorate her life on Saturday, April 29, 2017, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at 3504 32nd Circle SE, Rio Rancho.
