Frances Pauline Jones

Frances Pauline Jones, truly a kind, gentle woman, was called home by her heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Her strong Catholic faith sustained her throughout her life and gave special comfort to her in her last months on this earth. We learned a wonderful lesson in gratitude and grace from this beautiful soul. Parents, Horacio D. and Eloisa R. Barela preceded her in death, as well as her husband, Don Jones. Frances left as immediate survivors' one sister and brother-in-law, Dolores M. and Joseph Armijo; one sister, Sophie A. Clark; and one brother and sister-in law, Eugene F. and Robyn Barela. In addition, Frances was aunt to eight nieces and nephews, Anthony Armijo, Martin Armijo, Eileen Romero, Dolores Clark, Linda Clark, Stephanie Clark, Randy Clark, and Jeanette Barela. In addition, Frances had many cousins on both the Barela and Romero sides of the family. She graduated from St. Vincent Academy, where she received a rich yet practical education from the Sisters of Charity. Frances was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque but she enjoyed occasional trips around the United States. She worked for many years at the University of New Mexico (UNM) hospital before retirement. Frances' family will remember her as a quiet person in a family of extroverts. Nonetheless, she thoroughly enjoyed a good joke and her smile was genuine. She was drawn to household pets, and would often hold them quietly on her lap. Frances enjoyed afternoons with Dolores, going to the latest movie followed by lunch or ice cream. She read or listened to books on tape. Frances frequently expressed her feelings in writing, to family members and/or friends. Her vocabulary was extensive, clear, and direct. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 6, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lomas and Tennessee NE. Interment of her ashes will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
