Frances Joan Dodd (née Burke) left us on 6 July 2024 at the tender age of 99. She is remembered by her two sons John (with wife Mary) and Peter (with wife Janet), and her daughter Maryanne Nicks (with husband Dennis). Grandchildren John Robert (with Lisa Cormier), Andrew (with wife Rebecca and great granddaughter Petra), and Kelly Dodd-McMurray (with her husband Sean and great grandson Landon) also send prayers and wishes for her eternal happiness.
Frances was a teacher and high school counselor for over 40 years in Highland Indiana, where she molded young minds. She achieved a Master's Degree in English, and coincidentally graduated with that degree from ISU alongside her mother, who was also a teacher. She was an active member in Delta Kappa Gamma and the Alpha Iota Chapter, as well as a vocal advocate for panda rights and church-sponsored legal Bridge gaming.
In spite of her strident assertions of computer literacy, she never did grasp the basics of operation, and her catch phrase was always: "I didn't do that", although all evidence was to the contrary. She was extensively attended through the loving care of her daughter-in-law Mary, who assured her independence into her later years.
To celebrate Frances' remarkable life, we will gather at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM for a funeral Mass at 9:30 am on 18 September 2024, followed by a private ceremony later that day at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Frances will be interred with her soulmate and WWII-veteran husband, John R. Dodd Sr. In lieu of traditional charitable donations, we request the joy of your company at her funeral Mass and your remembrance of Frances in your prayers.
