Forrest "BJ" James, Jr. went to our Lord on Friday, March 3rd, 2023. Born in South Texas, Forrest always considered himself a New Mexican who loved living in the East Mountains. Known as "BJ" to his friends and family, he was called "Papa" by his favorite people in the World - his Grandkids. BJ graduated from Manzano High School in 1963 as part of the school's 2nd graduating class. Drafted into the US Army in 1965, he served in the 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red 1) deployed to Vietnam as a platoon machine gunner where he was Wounded-In-Action. While recovering at Ft. Bliss, TX, he married the love of his life, Sheribeth Evans. Following his discharge from the US Army, BJ made a career as a machinist at Sandia Labs and retired after 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Forrest and Verda James of Jacksonville, TX. BJ is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sheribeth; sister, Karen Sue Morris; sons, CDR Forrest 'Tres' James III USN and Barry; daughters-in-law, CeCe and Jenni; and most importantly his grandkids, Aidan, D'Lanie, and Jada-Mary.
