A devoted family man with an incredible laugh, Floyd Salas dedicated his life to serving those he loved, his country, and God. After his service in the US Navy, Floyd spent 35 years working his way up from the mailroom to become an electronic technician at Sandia Labs. He married the love of his life 57 years ago. Together he and Mary raised three beautiful daughters who were his pride and joy.
An avid sportsman, Floyd loved fishing, farming, and ranching in the wild beauty of La Joya, NM. Though a talented tennis and softball player too, Floyd especially loved catching up with friends on the golf course. He was always ready to share information on any subject, offering insight and sound advice. Floyd had an incredible sense of humor with a bold, gregarious laugh that made you want to join right in.
His lifetime of service to God began in Catholic school where he worked as an altar boy and grew to becoming caretaker of his local church, Our Lady of Sorrows, with his wife Mary. A devoted son and brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Floyd made a lasting impact on everyone he loved. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will continue on as we share his stories and further his mission to serve and care for each other.
