Florentino Montoya

MONTOYA, FLORENTINO (FLOREN)Floren, age 83, was born in La Junta, CO and passed away peacefully in his Albuquerque home surrounded by his family on August 22, 2012. He is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Adelina (Lena) Montoya; children, Frank Montoya and partner, Jean St. Pierre of San Francisco, CA, Carol Castaneda and husband, Robert of San Ramon, CA, Charles Montoya and wife, Yvonne of San Diego, CA, Adrian Montoya and wife, Sofia of Albuquerque, and Kathy Roybal and husband, Tony of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, Gabriela, Adrianna, Ricardo, David, Alejandra, Giovana, Eli, Graciela, and Maximo; brothers, Lucas Montoya and wife, Dora, and Roger Montoya and wife, Gloria; brother-in-laws, Orlando Sanchez and Benny Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Montoya; parents, Anastacio and Agapita Montoya; brothers, Anastacio Montoya Jr. and Ezekiel Montoya; and sisters, Margie Sandoval and Bernice Garcia. Floren graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1948 and the University of New Mexico in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired as deputy director from the New Mexico Employment Security Commission. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on August 30, 2012 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lomas and Tennessee. Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at American Legion Post 99, 540 Louisiana NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of New Mexico Cancer Center.
