Florence Lopez

August 28, 1910 — November 27, 2012

Age 102, and a lifelong resident of Old Town, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Crawford and husband, Bob; nieces, Pauline Prendergast and husband, Dan, Carmen Padilla, Stella and Jeanette Michelbach and Patsy Flores; and many great-nieces, cousins, and loving friends. Mrs. Lopez was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Marie Thompson Michelbach; brothers, Eugene, William, Charles and Lawrence Michelbach; and sisters, Cora Garcia and Helen Richardson. She was a member of San Felipe Parish for over 50 Years and a member of the Madres Christianas. Florence was born and raised in Old Town and was married, in 1934, to the love of her life Cipriano Lopez. She worked during elections for many years, and took pride in helping other Albuquerque residents cast their ballots. Florence loved to cook, garden and attend Albuquerque Dukes baseball games with her husband. She was a loving wife, mother and mother-in-law and she will be missed by family and friends. Rosary and Mass will be held at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church on Saturday December 1, 2012. The viewing will be at the church from 11:15 am to 11:30 am. Rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m., recited by Deacon Tom Perez with, Mass following at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Gurule, Dan Prendergast, Jon Taylor, Michael Taylor, Noel Tillotson, and Harry Tipton. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Westwind House for their care and love.
