Flora Barbara Sanchez, age 88, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away October 16, 2022. She was born in Las Vegas, NM on September 12, 1934. Flora grew up in Las Vegas then moved to Albuquerque where she worked for the Albuquerque Newspaper. It was in Albuquerque where she met Archie, her husband and soul mate of almost 60 years before his passing.
Flora continued her education at Adams State College in Colorado where she earned her degree in Education.
Opportunities took Flora and Archie to Tacoma, Washington; Carlsbad, New Mexico; Alamosa, Colorado; then they eventually made New Mexico their home for the rest of their lives. Flora was an elementary teacher in Bernalillo, NM for over 30 years before her retirement. She was also an avid reader, an unbeatable crossword whiz, and an extraordinary gardener.
After retirement, Flora was able to enjoy her time with more reading, travel with friends and family, and participate in shenanigans with her grandchildren, her greatest loves.
She is survived by her son, Archie (Jacqueline); daughter, Victoria (Phil); son, Christopher (Lorene); son, Carlos (Gracie); and the loves of her life, her grandchildren: Evan, Aaron, Christian, Isabella, Megan, Hannah, Christopher, and Kimberly.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 4, at 11:00 AM at FRENCH-Wyoming.
