Flora Arminda Garcia Duarte of Farmington, NM lost her life on Sunday, May 21, 2023, following a tragic car accident in Albuquerque, NM at age 64.
Flora was born in Ignacio Allende in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico on February 1st, 1959, and was the daughter of Moises Garcia Alarcon and Sara Duarte Muñoz. Flora helped run her family's store before immigrating to the United States in 1989 and resided in Farmington, NM for the past 28 years. Flora worked as a housekeeper but was best known for her cooking. She made the most delicious tamales and empanadas. She enjoyed going for walks and was taking classes at San Juan College as part of the Engaging Latino Communities for Education (ENLACE) program prior to her death. Flora loved plants and flowers as befitting her name. She was a loving mother, a good friend, and a kind woman.
She is survived by her beloved children, Dr. Joy Marquez (husband, Nathan Friedman) and Cliff Marquez Garcia.
Memorial services will not be held at this time.
