Filbert passed away Friday, May 31 2013 at the age of 57. He was born October 13, 1955 in Ruidoso, NM. Filbert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mindy and father, Orlando. He is survived by his children, Nicole, Evan and Sarah; his granddaughter, Mindi; and his mother Gloria Montes. Filbert graduated from Ruidoso High School in 1973 and then moved to Albuquerque, NM. He attended the University of New Mexico where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in University Studies, Master's Degree in Public Administration, and Jurist Doctor. He specialized in Workers' Compensation Law and loved to serve his community. Filbert was a three time Letterman with the UNM Cross Country Ski Team. His love for athletics and support for his children flourished into many hobbies over the years including coaching at Roadrunner Little League, AYSO, Eldorado High School Soccer, Club Soccer, as well as skated for Silver Skate Shop. He became a Certified Bikram Teacher and taught hundreds of people to open up their hearts, minds and bodies. Filbert loved the outdoors and everything the beautiful Land of Enchantment has to offer. He was a father, husband, son, brother, uncle, lawyer, coach, mentor, teacher, lover, counselor and most importantly a friend to everyone. Blessed were those who had the opportunity to meet him. To test myself physically and mentally, to experience my limits. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 6, 2013, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 7, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111. Flowers will be accepted at French - University two hours prior to rosary.
