Filadelfio L. Griego, Msgt. USAF (Ret.)

Filadelfio "Phil" Griego, Msgt. USAF (Ret.), beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was surrounded by his loving wife Gloria, daughters Phyllis and Nancy and the girls' best friend Liz, when he sadly and unexpectedly passed away on Good Friday, March 30, 2018. Born July 17, 1930, in Tucumcari, NM to parents Marcas and Lola Griego, he is preceded in death by his beloved children, Patricia, Michael, and Charles. Phil loved going to dances with Gloria and spending time with his family. Phil also loved to travel and cruise with Gloria to many exciting places including Europe, Hawaii, the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, Panama Canal, Latin America, the Mexican Riviera, and river cruising in Europe. One of his favorite trips was to Florence, Venice, and Rome, where they visited the Vatican.

Phil had a 21 year career in the Air Force, was a proud Vietnam Veteran, and also served in Okinawa, Philippines, Thailand, England, Scotland, Iceland, as well as Texas, California, Montana, Kirtland AFB and finally retiring with his last tour at Charleston AFB. He then brought his family back to Albuquerque. After retiring from the Air Force he received his Associates Degree, worked in procurement, and retired from Northrup Grumman.

He is survived by his bride and dancing partner of 66 years, Gloria; his daughter, Phyllis Keller and husband, George, daughter, Nancy Gallegos and husband, Mike, daughter-in-law, Adelita Griego; granddaughters, Michelle and Melissa Gallegos; grandsons, Michael Jr. and wife, Rebekah, Patrick, Phillip, and Estevan Griego; and great-grandson, Alan Griego and many nieces and nephews.

Phil's Rosary will be recited by Deacon Faustin Archuleta on Monday, April 9, 2018, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, with visitation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., also at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church followed by a graveside burial with Military Honors at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
