Fern Irene Proffer, age 104, passed away December 11, 2015. She was born in Creek County, OK on November 27, 1911, to Cassius I. Neely and Bessie A. Shelton. The family moved in 1918 to the area of Cahone, CO to homestead and farm.
She met and married Lenvil Proffer on January 1, 1930. They raised five children. She and Lenvil and the children moved to Albuquerque in 1947.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Lenvil; daughter, Glenda Felkins; son, William Proffer; and two grandsons, Lynn Felkins and Mark Grano.
Fern is survived by her daughters, Karen Cannon of California, Lynn Grano of Rio Rancho; and son, Mitchell Proffer of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sharon Fast or Oregon, Bill Proffer, Casey Proffer, Tyra Proffer, all of Albuquerque, Charles Felkins of Oregon, John Cannon and James Cannon of California, Shelli Tree of Alaska, Mitch Grano and Ethan Proffer of Albuquerque and Caitlin Zagar of Washington; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. Fern is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
Fern was an amazing lady. She dedicated her life to her family with love and hard work.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque.
