Fern Alice (Weiss) Patz

Fern Alice Patz, age 96, was born in Colton, SD, to William and May (Ingalls) Weiss. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, and passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donald, in 2014; and son, Marvin Lee, in 2017. Fern is survived by her children, Donna Hohimer and husband, John, Darrell Patz and wife, Penny, Alice Tibboel and husband, Larry, and adopted daughter, Maria Sommer and husband, Peter; and Lee’s wife, Kay Patz; and by 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Fern was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; and was honored as the 1982 New Mexico Mother of the Year. She and her husband, Donald, were members of and served extensively at Chelwood Christian Reformed Church from 1957 through the early 1990’s when they joined their children as members of Grace Church, also serving in many ministries there. For the past 2 ½ years, Fern has been a resident at Brookdale Valencia Senior Living Center where she made many friends and shared her faith with them. The family wishes to thank the staff and aides of Brookdale Valencia for their loving care of Fern during her time there. Fern leaves a wonderful legacy of strong faith in Jesus and service to her Lord. She will be greatly missed.

Friends and family may visit on Thursday, May 17, 2018, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Graveside Services will be held Friday, May 18, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio Dr. NE.
