Federico (Fred) Martinez left his family and friends to be united with his Savior and Lord on May 12, 2022. He was 98 years old, and his legacy was one of devotion to God, love for his family, and enduring patriotism to his country. He was born on May 4, 1924, in Questa, NM, to Marcelino and Alfreda Martinez. At age 18, he joined the Marine Corps and saw action in the South Pacific. Upon completing his military service, he attended the University of Denver and graduated with a degree in Accounting. He was employed by Sandia National Laboratory and retired after 35 years of service. He married Evangeline Bazan in 1947 and together they reared 7 children. He is preceded in death by his parents; his 5 brothers, Marcelino, Virgil, Jose, Fabian, and Gomez; his beloved wife of 68 years, Evangeline; and his oldest son, Fred Jr. His surviving children Sue, Ron, Sandy, Scott, Sally, and Mark thank God for such an amazing and godly father.
"...well done thou good and faithful servant...." Matthew 25:21
Fred worked tirelessly for his church devoting his accounting skills in a lifelong ministry of faith. He beamed proudly at the mention of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a dear circle of friends with which he fellowshipped, but his greatest treasure was his wife, Evangeline. His recollection was pure joy the day she became his bride and he married into the beautiful Bazan family.
His love will always be felt by his family and time will not diminish his simple beautiful memory.
"...And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain...." Revelation 21:4
