Faye Hughes

W. Faye Hughes, 64, a resident of Los Chavez, NM died Friday, October 12, 2012. She is survived by her children, Beth Cherry and husband, John of Jarales, NM, Barbara L. Evans and husband, David of Rio Rancho, NM, Brenda Bennett and husband, Tom of Albuquerque, Jackie Evans of Cumberland Gap, TN, and John Douglas Gibson of Ballinger, TX; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Sally Nell Gutierrez and husband, Manuel of Lynnwood, CA; and numerous other relatives and friends. Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Hughes; parents, John Ellis and Mary Lou Johnson; and sister, Betty Lou Williams. She was born in 1948 in Pontotoc, Mississippi and married Johnny Gibson on July 28, 1965. After his death in 1967 Faye married Jimmy Evans before moving out west. She married Joel Hughes on March 1, 1998. Faye was baptized in a pond with 40 pounds of catfish in Mississippi and was currently a member of Los Chavez Baptist Church in Los Chavez, NM. She loved to collect angels and to sew and cook. Faye will always be remembered for loving everyone, never meeting a stranger. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. At Faye's request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Los Chavez Baptist Church, 9 Los Chavez Park Road, Belen, NM on Friday, October 19, 2012, 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Boyd Morerod officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Albuquerque, NM.
