Evelyn J. Bednarz

d. November 24, 2014

Evelyn June Bednarz, age 86, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014. She was born in Chicago, IL on August 28, 1928. After marrying her beloved Bruno and raising three children, she began a second career in financial services. She successfully worked her way up to become branch manager of her local bank. She happily retired to North Carolina, where she played on the beautiful golf courses of Pinehurst, NC and danced with the Sophisticated Ladies. She was fiercely devoted to her husband and family, as well as loyal to her friends. During her life, she generously supported the building of three new churches for the Catholic parishes in which she lived. She was a woman of strength and action... small, but mighty. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Bruno Bednarz; her children, Sherry Fila (Richard), Jim Bednarz (George Anne Thibodeau), and Mike Bednarz; her grandchildren, Stefanie Tierney (William), Erin Campbell (Brandon), Amanda Myers (Patrick) and Josh Bednarz. She would have dearly loved to hold her first great-grand child Campbell, who is expected in May. She is also survived by her sisters, Charlene Young and Lorraine Luering (Gene), whom she helped to raise. The family wishes to thank Dr. Goodman, Hospice of New Mexico, and especially the dedicated, loving staff at the Woodmark Uptown, who provided such expert care. A Rosary is scheduled at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 8:00 a.m., followed by her funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Evelyn's name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
