“All I ever wanted to be was a mom.” ~Eva Marie Duron
On October 12, 2020, Eva Marie Duron was murdered by Matthew Montoya. She suffered five gunshot wounds and passed away shorty after. This incident occurred at the Queen of Peace Chapel parking lot in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Eva was born on March 19, 1970 in Fontana, CA to Daniel and Marie Duron. She was the little sister to twin brothers David and Danny. She grew up in Perris, California. She graduated from Temple Christian High School in Perris, CA in 1988 as Valedictorian. She graduated from Riverside City College in 2012 with her RN Associates Degree.
Before becoming a nurse, she was a stay at home mom and homeschooled most of her children, she worked for PrimeAmerica, was a notary, and operated a Catholic bookstore, Totally Catholic Bookstore. As a nurse part of her responsibilities included: rehabilitation, psychiatric care, and developmentally disabled individual care. In some of her places of employment she was put in charge of a floor or as a supervisor. At her last employment she was hired as Director of Nursing. She was known as being a nurse that was very patient, giving and hard working.
Eva suffered from domestic violence for most of her adult life. We are so proud of our strong mom for fighting courageously to leave this life and start new. We are saddened that her life was ended before she was able to finalize this break from domestic violence. If you or a loved one are currently experiencing domestic violence we strongly encourage you to reach out and get help. It is never too late.
Our mom was a true saint, hero, and one of the greatest influencers in our lives. Despite everything, she knew where she was going and knew exactly who her King was. She always stayed true to her Catholic faith. Our mom fought to the end, even though her last battle cost her her life fighting for custody of her youngest daughter. Never giving up and no longer suffering, she now shines gloriously in heaven with her Redeemer, Christ our Savior.
Eva is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, maternal, Charles and Felipa Monroy; paternal, Marcos and Maria Sotera Duron; and her twin sons, Joseph and Joshua. Eva is survived by her nine children, Ashley, Cassandra (Michael Lesinski), Evangelina (Seth Power), Vincent, Matthew (Lydia Herrera), Katherine, Paul-Michael, Daniel, and Mary-Therese; eight grandchildren; parent, Daniel and Marie Duron; brothers, David (Beth) Duron and Daniel (Chrissy) Duron; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She will be dearly missed and rest forever in our hearts.
