Eugene Thomas Bell

October 28, 1984 — October 26, 2017

Psalm 30: 5

For his anger last only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Sorrow has a start and stop time as the Lord doesn’t keep His people in a constant state of weeping.  He fills us with the Holy Spirit who translates our moans and groans into prayers to heaven.  Our Lord also gives us peace to endure through the difficult days so that we can make it through.  Many tears run through the darkness of pain; however, through the light of Christ we can take joy in the midst of it.

Eugene Thomas Bell, 32, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, was called to his eternal resting place on October 26, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Eugene was born October 28, 1984 to Priscilla Cobbs and Eugene Bell in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He is survived by son Dejon Eugene Bell, daughter Amari Malaya Bell; mother Priscilla Cobbs; father Eugene Bell; grandmother Carnella McGowan; sisters Tanica Bell, Brittney Bell (daughter-Zhariyah), and April Byrd (husband-Brandon Byrd); brothers Donte Cobbs, Brandon Ard (daughter-Tekiyah); aunts Alesia Bell and Rashada Irvin (husband-Aaron Ricks), uncles James Bell, Robert Winn, Tyron Irvin, and Mark Irvin, extended family-Don Cobbs, Tammy Bell, Latisha Sheppard (husband-Tom Sheppard), Jacque Cobbs, a host of cousins, and close friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers Thomas Bell, Joe Irvin, Ray McGowan, and grandmother Maudie Irvin.

Eugene graduated from West Mesa High School in 2004 and later started working on his filming degree at Central New Mexico. While in high school Eugene played running back for the Mustangs varsity football team for four years. He had a love for football as he was in YAFL in his younger years.  His favorite NFL team was the Dallas Cowboys, and he would enjoy discussing plays and other NFL teams with family members and friends.  He fathered two beautiful children, Dejon Bell (13) and Amari Bell (8) and did everything in his power to make sure his children were taken care of.

As a teenager, Eugene worked for the City of Albuquerque at his grandfather’s legacy community center Thomas Bell for a few years.  He also worked as a chef at the Sheraton, where he would use his family as taste testers for his recipes.  He started driving 18-wheeler trucks in 2013, and he was able to travel across the United States.  While on the road, Eugene touched several people and created several friendships.  Along his routes, he would stop and visit with family and friends and enjoy their company until it was time to return to driving.  You would often see his “Big Rig” or #HisCar parked in front of his mother’s home when he came into Albuquerque.  Eugene was known for his loud voice, smile, humor, always wanting to make people laugh. He also had a big appetite and loved to eat, his mother and sisters would have to slap his hands out of the pots.  He was a very caring man and wasn’t ashamed to let you know.

Eugene was loved by everyone he connected with, he will truly be missed by all.

The viewing will take place on Sunday November 5, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and the memorial service will be held on Monday November 6, 2017 at 10:00am, both services are to be held at French Funerals-Cremations (7121 Wyoming Blvd NE)
