Etta Rae Sewell, 85, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister was called to her eternal resting place on November 1, 2017. She entered this world on February 29, 1932 in Moriarty, NM, a leap year baby born to Virgil and Chloe Brazell. Her family had homesteaded in the area but moved to Albuquerque where she graduated from high school and met and married her partner for life, Weldon E. Sewell in 1948. Etta Rae was a child of the Great Depression Era and learned the value of hard work, beginning by selling cider from a stand in Moriarty to working in the school food service program where she rose through the ranks to become the coordinator for the entire A.P.S school food service district. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. She loved the outdoors, camping with her friends, square dancing, her many dogs and was a terror at the card table playing bridge, canasta or any other game. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Weldon Sewell; her son, Ricky Sewell; her sister, Myra Eden and her parents, Troy and Chloe Brazell. She is survived by her two brothers, Troy and Roy Brazell; her three children, Rex Sewell and wife Barbara, Randy Sewell and significant other Margaret Hensley, Patti Miller and husband Bill; her five grandchildren, Michael Sewell, Teri Tavella and husband Paul, Alexandra Opell and husband John, Dori Johnstad and husband Phil, Cory Miller and wife Devin; her nine great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Cody and Jack Tavella, Logan, Jarred and Tyson Johnstad, Trent Wright, Kaylee Opell and Alexander Sewell; numerous relatives and a multitude of friends. A Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Westside.
