Espirdion Luis "Louis" Abeyta, 80, passed away peacefully in his Albuquerque, NM home with his family by his side on November 9, 2018. Louis was born on May 7, 1938, to Eduardo and Carolina Abeyta in Puerto De Luna, NM. He is survived by his companion, Betty Sharpe; daughters, Louise Harvey and husband, Richard of Colorado Springs, CO, Christine Miller and husband, Nathan of Albuquerque, NM; son, Edward Abeyta and wife, Candi of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Michaela Miller of Albuquerque, NM, LaVonne Urbano and husband, Joseph along with their children, Christiana and Nathan of Rio Rancho, NM.
Louis received his degree in Mathematics and minor in English at New Mexico Highlands University where he met his wife LaMorah. As a first-generation college student, Louis had a passion for education and lifelong learning. He worked over forty years as a computer software developer in the private sector, Los Alamos-Sandia National Laboratories, and taught computer programming at the University of California, San Diego Extension.
He will be remembered as an intelligent, generous, and compassionate man who loved playing classical guitar, cooking, reading, watching sports and computer coding. His affinity for technology was secondary to his views on humanity. He believed computers are magnificent tools to solve problems, but no machine can replace the power of the human spirit, compassion, love, and understanding.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Memorial donations may be made in Louis Abeyta’s name to the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.
