Ernest Frank Romero

Ernest Frank Romero, born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Joe and Josephine Romero on April 11, 1948, passed away on April 7, 2017.
Ernest served as an altar boy and patrol boy at San Ignacio Catholic School until he entered Lourdes Catholic High School for Boys, where he was a member of the orchestra's large horn section. He also participated in weight lifting and track and field events. He lettered in shot put, discus and javelin. In 1967, Ernest graduated from Albuquerque High School, where he excelled in auto mechanics. He went on to earn his Auto Mechanics Certification from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute and was a certified auto mechanic and diesel specialist at the J. C. Penney Auto Center for more than 20 years. He could repair almost anything.
Ernest was an accomplished guitarist and enjoyed restoring classic cars. He was also strong in his Christian faith as a practicing Catholic. Ernest's level of integrity was unmatched. He never took advantage of anyone and never asked for favors. In his later years, he lived with his parents and assisted them as they aged.
Ernest is preceded in death by his mother, Josephine S. Romero, and his brother, Joseph G. Romero. He is survived by his father, Joe Romero; his sister, Ana Marie Gonzales and husband Dennis Gonzales, and one nephew, Michael Vincent Gonzales, whom he taught at the age of two to play the guitar.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside. A Rosary will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 8:15 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 5901 St. Joseph's Drive NW in Albuquerque. Following the services, Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd.
